THE MINOR GROUP RECEIVES 8(a) CERTIFICATION
Annapolis, MD… The U.S. Small Business Administration has certified The Minor Group, Inc., a woman-owned small business, as a participant in its 8(a) Business Development Program. 8(a) firms can be awarded Federal government contracts on a sole-source (non-competitive) basis up to $3 million for goods and services, and may receive up to $100 million in sole source contracts during their program participation.
“We are excited about obtaining the 8(a) certification,” said Ms. Hollis Minor, The Minor Group’s CEO. “The 8(a) program has allowed many minority and women-owned firms to get started in federal contracting and to grow from small companies to medium-sized firms with annual revenues in the tens of millions. Under the program, we’re able to compete for procurements over $3 million that are set aside for competition only by 8(a) certified firms - which greatly reduces the field of competition. We can also receive a price evaluation preference of 10% on full and open competitive procurements for which we submit bids. This is a huge opportunity for The Minor Group to grow.
“We waited until now to apply for the 8(a) designation so that we could be in a solid position to take full advantage of the opportunity it presents. We have almost a decade of strong, reliable service under our belt. So, we should be able to easily manage the growth that will come from this opportunity.”
